Nightjars have a pretty good claim to being one of the coolest birds in the UK.
Their cryptic plumage, their eerie nocturnal sounds, the fascinating folklore that surrounds them – there’s a lot to enjoy about one of our most ethereal and enigmatic species.
Join me for a twilight stroll into their world in one of my favourite places. We’ll begin our evening walk searching for species like Cuckoo, Woodlark, and Tree Pipit before tuning our eyes and ears for Woodcock and owls as the light fades. As dusk marches on, we should find ourselves enjoying the aerial acrobatics and supernatural sounds of the Nightjars as they stir from their daytime slumber…
Meeting point: Sherwood Forest, near Edwinstowe. (exact location given after booking).
Duration: Walks will be approximately 3 hours.
